Bowling
Today was a good day to get out of the house a little. Since daddy is going to be gone next week again, he took Jaden and I bowling this afternoon. Avery stayed home with mommy since she is still recovering from surgery. I enjoyed myself while Jaden prefers activities that are a little more active. It was still fun to get out of the house and spend some time with just daddy. We are all looking forward to his job going back to his "old" position next week. He should be around a lot more again!

Avery's Surgery Day
It seems like every year, mommy and daddy make a trip to Children's Hospital for one of us kids! It was Avery's turn this time. Since October, she has had multiple ear infections and constant congestion. While part of it is due to reflux, there was greater concern that the constant fluid in her ears was causing hearing loss. Since Jaden and I both have had tubes, mommy and daddy didn't waste time deciding what to do. Avery's ENT thought it was best to put tubes in and to put them in sooner rather than later.
Avery was such a good sport. She had a lot of waiting time before surgery when she couldn't eat and investigate her surroundings. Mommy was super duper nervous about Avery picking up hospital germs so she didn't want her touching the toys, crawling around or putting things in her mouth. This was not an easy task for our active, inquisitive little Avery. Overall, surgery went well and Avery was released soon after! Let's hope she heals and can begin flushing fluid through her ears rather than it sit in them!
Post Surgery: She sucked down two little bottles of apple juice, was a bit groggy and cranky but fell asleep on the way home. Once home, she slept for several hours and woke up with a smile. We love our princess Avery!

Snow and more Snow
This winter feels like it will never end. It seems like it is always cold and snowy. This week, it was so cold that our bathroom pipes froze in the addition of our house. Finally this weekend it was at least in the 20s. Jaden and I have been going stir crazy and really needed to burn some energy so mommy went outside with us to play. We shoveled the driveway, did some sledding and even played on the playset. It was a great way to "enjoy" this time of year.

Building Independence
Avery is growing up quick, very quick! Not only did she start crawling, pulling herself up, clapping and sleeping in her crib, but she is also beginning to hold her own bottle! Mommy keeps saying "each day gets a little easier". Avery loves to be independent and gets excited when she can do something new! Jaden and I get excited also since it is just that little bit more time that mommy and daddy have to give us attention!
Gymnastics
It has been about 9 months since I started gymnastics. Jaden has been going about 6 months. We really enjoy the time. It is a great way to burn some energy during the winter months and we look forward to learning new skills. Mommy would really like to see me swim also but I keep telling her that I won't do that until I turn 5. Jaden may try baseball this summer but he also says that he wants to continue gymnastics. If only we had the time and money to do it all...that's what mommy always says. For now, we continue to build strength and confidence at gymnastics!
Guitars
Jaden is our music boy. He absolutely loves music. We were recently given a guitar from a family member for Jaden to try. Daddy has also been very interested in learning guitar. Since he is not currently playing hockey, we thought it might be a good time for him to try. The boys of the family are learning together! It is very neat to watch them together, concentrating and enjoying the sounds together!

Little bit of This and Little bit of That
This winter needs to end soon! It is soooo cold outside that we can't even enjoy the snow by playing out there. We are all cooped up inside all the time and are going stir crazy a bit. When we do get out, there are germs everywhere and we end up sick! Our whole house was sick for 3 weeks! During this time, mommy has been taking some random pictures.
Jaden and I can play very nicely together at times. Sometimes he cooperates and plays daycare and house with me. On this day, we thought it would be fun to load many of our dolls and animals into the car and go for a ride.
For those of you who don't know, I have been working on increasing the strength of my left eye. I have amblyopia so I need to wear a patch on my right eye several hours each day. I have been doing awesome with it and it is showing because my vision has improved a bit in the last couple months!
Avery is enjoying her crib more and more. She still doesn't want to sleep in it during the night but has really taken a liking to napping in it. She has some toys and music in there so she likes to play before and after going down for a nap!
Teeth teeth and more teeth. Avery is certainly in the midst of teething. Three are through but she has lots of white in her mouth with more teeth on the way! Due to this, Avery chews EVERYTHING!!!
For Christmas, we got a dance game that we use with daddy's playstation. We absolutely love it! It is so much fun and the whole family plays! Since Jaden is our music guy, he is probably the best at it! Some of the songs on the game are from The Wiggles so he knows every word and dance move!
Lastly, we have awesome neighbors. We got this dollhouse from someone in our neighborhood this week. It was going to go to grandma K's house for us girls to play with at her house but I literally haven't stopped playing with it since. I will play quietly by myself for hours with my dolls and doll house toys. Mommy loves that I'm so independent!

Watch Me Grow: Avery 9 Months
Last year at this time, life was very different and Avery was still in mommy's belly. Now she is 9 months and developing her little personality. She is a determined little girl that knows what she wants! This month, Avery started crawling, pulling herself up and has decided that she is done with some of the "baby" toys. She likes napping in her crib and has had some better sleeping habits at night! She is loving all her food choices, has started eating puffs and some other special baby treats and even drinking some juice from a sippy. She even switched from her infant carrier into a car seat. She still doesn't like the car but mommy likes not having to lug the heavy carrier around.
Jaden and I aren't huge fans of Avery crawling now because she gets into all of our toys. We are often saying "no Avery, stop."
Avery also had another double ear infection so unfortunately, it looks like she is going down the same path as Jaden and I. She has her first ENT appointment next week and she will probably have tubes before she turns one. She is such a happy little girl and loves watching all the commotion around her.
