Meeting my New Brother

The little guy that everyone has been talking about came home last Wed.  I'm really not a fan so far.  Mommy and daddy thought I would be too young to really understand the change but they were surely wrong.  The only good thing is that I got this cool new kitchen set the day I met my little brother.  My two favorite things right now are Elmo and Mickey so daddy added the cool Elmo balloon to the gift.  I kept pointing to it saying, "melmo"!

The best thing about having a little brother is that I get to play with my old baby toys and the worst part is that I cant get mommy and daddy's attention all the time.  I also don't like when the baby cries.  It upsets me so I cry too.

I still enjoy helping mommy so this past weekend, I helped her wash windows and dust so we could put out fall decorations.  My favorite was this scarecrow.  He is my size so I enjoyed carrying him around and even dancing with him!

Lots of family came over this weekend to visit the baby so I enjoyed the extra attention too!  I hate putting anything on my head or face but thought it was really neat to wear aunt heather's glasses!  I'm such a diva rock star!

As mommy always says, I'm such a little helper.  I love my baby doll and enjoy feeding her and pushing her in the little stroller that I have.  When mommy feeds Jaden, I really like to help so on this day, mommy and daddy had me feed my baby while mommy fed baby Jaden.  Everyone keeps saying that I'm gonna be a great big sister!

Watch Me Grow!!!

Hey everyone, it's me..Jaden.  My big sis told me that you will hear alot from me over the next many months.  My sister and I like to keep everyone updated on the excitement in our lives!  I'm just learning the ropes but I was told about this thing that mommy likes to do each month.  Lexi sat next to a big Pooh Bear each month while mommy took a picture of her.  It was neat to watch her grow next to Pooh Bear when she started so tiny at 4 days old!  Well, this time around, mommy decided to use a huge monkey!  Below is me with my monkey at just 3 days old!  Have fun watching me grow big and strong next to this big guy over the next year!

Jaden Arrives!

Well, it has been a long time coming but the little guy finally arrives!  We expected him weeks ago but he held out until 38 weeks!  Contractions began over the weekend but became very intense around dinner time on Monday night.  We got to the hospital around 9:30pm to find out that I was already 8cm dilated and that it was too late for an epidural.  I'm still having nightmares about the pain...never want to experience anything like it again!  Jaden arrived about an hour after being in the hospital at 10:18pm.  Quick yet intense is how I describe the experience.  Jaden is a healthy 7lb 6oz; 20.5in little boy!

We were in the hospital less than 48hrs so we only had one day for visitors.  Proud aunt Nae came to visit the very first night he was born and Lexi met her new brother for the very first time the next day!  She wasn't so sure and seemed to think he was a doll until he began to cry.  Then she showed the same concern as she does at daycare when one of the babies cry.  She is such a compassionate little girl who has been such a trooper through all this!  She hates anything on her head so she must think that everyone feels the same way.  The first thing she did when she saw Jaden was pull his hat off his head!
We are so grateful for our family and wouldn't be able to survive without their love and support!

We got the ok to leave the hospital on Wed 9/21/11 around 10am.  Jaden had been a very quiet baby while in the hospital; only crying when he wanted something.  As soon as we arrived home, the crying began!  Our hearts sank, thinking of all the screaming hours, days and weeks we had spent just a little over a year ago trying to calm Lexi.  So far, it seems as if Jaden is a happy baby as long as he is dry and full.  We will see how things play out.....

My Social Life this Week

Yes, we are still waiting for my little brother!  No one can believe he hasn't arrived yet but I'm enjoying this time while I have all of mommy and daddy's attention!

This week, I have started to say a couple new words like bug, bee, truck and barbie.  Mommy can't figure out where I picked up barbie but she thinks it is funny!  I also have begun to have a fear of bees!  As soon as a bug is around, I wail my arms to get it away while crying.  Mommy said that I picked that up from her!

I've also begun to use the "big" tub for my baths.  I kept laying flat and dunking my head under the water in my baby tub so mommy and daddy thought I might be rebelling and wanting to be a big girl and use the big tub.  I'm really enjoying the extra space to play with all my toys!

I also have been really enjoying all my books.  I keep bringing books to anyone who will sit with me and look at the pictures.  I point to all the pictures and want to know what it is!  Mommy is loving this since I actually sit with her for more than a minute!

My 2nd gym class was lots of fun and I got to go with mommy and daddy!  Daddy chased me around while I tried all the new mats they had out for us to play on.  I love being there but I get so tired by the end that I almost fall asleep in the car..good thing it is a short ride from home!

My 1st Gymnastics Class

I'm back!  It's been a short bit since I have had any pictures to share with everyone!  I've been fairly busy but mommy hasn't been feeling so good so I have been with aunt nae "nae nae" and grandma K quite a bit.  No one takes as many pictures as mommy!

This morning I went to my first gymnastics class!  It's really a time where I can run around, climb and interact with other kids and be safe all at the same time!  It's perfect for me and my eyes lit up when we walked in!  I didn't know what to do first since there were so many cool things to try!  I get to go ever Saturday with mommy and/or daddy.  Aunt nae helped mommy today since daddy was working and mommy can't chase me around!  I had lots of fun and didn't care that I was one of the smallest kids there!  My favorite was the mats and least favorite part was having to sit in a circle and listen to directions!

What's In a Name..A Word from Mommy

Now that it is September and our little guy, Jaden, has decided to stick it out longer than we expected, we wanted to take a moment and recognize where his name came from and why we chose it!  My husband's name is Jason so we liked the idea of Jaden since it is similar but not the same.  We went back and forth about spelling but ultimately decided on Jaden so it is different from the girl version of the name.  Matthew means "god's gift" and this little guy is truly a gift to us.  We are blessed to be having a boy since boys are not plentiful in our families.  This little guy is a trooper; I have been sick so many times throughout this pregnancy and he has stayed strong throughout! The focus the entire time was on him being early and so far he has made it 36 weeks!  We are blessed to have a little girl with so much energy and love to share and also now with our son that is soon to arrive.  They are both determined little fighters.  We also all share middle names that begin with the letter "M" so that was another contributing factor to why we are naming our little boy Jaden Matthew Christie.  Can't wait to meet you little guy!
